Grinding technology
Grinding is counted among the metal-cutting manufacturing processes.
Three different processes are in use at August Vormann:
Flat surface grinding:
In flat surface grinding, steel plates or steel surfaces are machined parallel to size and/or parallel to each other.
Peripheral grinding:
Peripheral grinding is used in the production of round cutting punches and rounded cutting geometries.
Slide grinding
Trowalising® or slide grinding is the name of a combined mechanical and chemical process for deburring and refining the surface of metal parts. The parts are placed in a rubber-lined container together with (mostly ceramic) abrasive product, water and a washing solution. Abrasion on the surfaces and edges of the metal parts is achieved by means of the container rotating or vibrating.
Slide grinding is most frequently applied to stainless steel parts to obtain a more refined, matt-finished surface.
